The Henley Rooms, Stratford-upon-Avon: The new "in" small venue for 2025!

Nestled in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, is The Henley Rooms, a dream location for couples looking for a romantic and timeless wedding setting. This historic registry office, steeped in Shakespearean charm, sits proudly close to the banks of the River Avon, making it an idyllic backdrop for a day filled with love, celebration, and unforgettable moments.
Growing up, living in Stratford has its benefits, even more so now when photographing weddings there. One venue I love photographing weddings at is the Henley Rooms, in fact in 2024 it was probably my most popular venue, and 2025 is shaping up to be similar. Small, intimate weddings seem to in this year with people, understandably, being on smaller budgets having a small wedding is looking like the new trend.
Lets take a look at some of my 2024 Henley Rooms weddings:
The year started with Ece & Raffaele, who got married on a very cold and frosty January morning, with only their 2 witnesses with them, the ceremony was private which was perfect for what they wanted. After becoming husband and wife, the 3 of us wandered the cobbled streets of Stratford to get those important and intimate couple photos that they will be able to look back on for years to come.
Hannah & Cory, from the moment I started speaking to Hannah, I knew the day was going to be a fun one. Their day started at Hannah’s mums house with her bridal party and 2 gorgeous boys. The whole wedding party then met at Harbury RFC and we got on a coach to the Henley Rooms. The sun was shining throughout the ceremony, then as soon as we left the heavens opened and we got soaked on the way back to the coach, taking shelter under the Chinese takeaway at the bottom of henley street, but it didn’t dull the spirit of anyone, lots of laughs were captured and happiness was around all day!
Suz & Antony, the sweetest, very in love couple, they chose Stratford as they loved how beautiful it is. Their September wedding morning was misty with a little bit of drizzle, but that didn't stop them from the excitement of the day. Suz made her own gorgeously crafted cropped wedding dress with a statement bow on the back, adding that unique element to the beauty of the day. After they said I do we headed down to the river to create some special memories with their families.
Kelly & Darren, this couple, they were a dream to work with. They tied the knot in October on a classic autumnal day, the ground was flooded with leaves and the air was fresh. Kelly has an absolute heart of gold! She was so nervous for her wedding, but she absolutely smashed it and we got the most gorgeous, natural photos of the two of them completely besotted with each other.
Sarah & Ben chose October for their wedding, which I have to say was a stunning month in 2024 to get married, the sun was shining and the ground was covered in all the autumnal colours that everyone loves to see. Sarah had the most classic but unique dress with moon and star embellishments on paired with a colourful dried flower arrangement. After saying I do the 3 of us explored hidden parts of Stratford to get those classic couple shots, whilst also learning that we actually worked at the same place just a few years apart from each other.
Nicola & James, my final October wedding. They decided on an intimate wedding to celebrate their love and followed that by having a lovely meal at The Garrick Inn (the oldest pub in Stratford). They are both massive dog lovers, so it was only right that they had their pooch at their special day and of course, he was the centre of attention in the family photos.
Amy & Henry, probably the most in love couple I photographed in 2024, their love and care for each other shone through in every single photo, from the way Henry looked at Amy, to the beaming smile on Amy's face as soon as she walked though the door and saw Henry at the top of the aisle, it was completely infectious. They chose to have their official, legal ceremony at The Henley Rooms and a few weeks later celebrated in style with their friends and family. Amy was super nervous on the day, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a big hug from me when she arrived, she looks absolutely stunning in her tailored, knee length dress and her single rose flower. Following their ceremony we took to the streets and riverside of Stratford to capture some family photos and had lots of fun creating them - getting lots of smiles and laugher from everyone.
The year ended with Paola & Salvatore, a Christmas Eve Eve wedding, with both of their families flying over from Italy, it was really important for them to have this special occasion captured, as their families don’t get together often. Paola wanted the photos to have that christmasy feel to them, so taking advantage of the Christmas lights and Stratford’s, open all year round, Christmas shop, we hit the cobbles and got into the Christmas spirit. Despite the language barrier both families were amazing and we had lots of laughs and created some amazing family memories for everyone. We finished the day by heading to BTP to have a cosy coffee before both families headed back to the newlyweds house to celebrate with an Italian meal.
