When should I book my 2027 wedding photographer?
Knowing the best time to book suppliers for your wedding can be hard and to be honest there is no real rule. But one thing I can do is give you suggestions, based on my experience as a wedding supplier and also a 2027 bride.
So, you've booked your venue, what do you do next? This will be different for all couples, but honestly I think it comes down to what you prioritise to be the most important things for your day.
Your wedding photographer is responsible for capturing the memories you’ll look back on for years and years to come. Long after the cake is eaten and the flowers are gone, your photos remain. If photos are one of your biggest priorities, booking early ensures you’re choosing someone based on fit and personality, not just who happens to be available on your date.
Many couples booking 2027 weddings are already making enquiries in 2025 and 2026, particularly for peak season dates (May–September). Popular dates like Saturdays in summer disappear fast.

One thing to bear in mind is that photographers are (mostly) only one person, they run their businesses solo, which means they can only take one booking per day. Unlike venues or caterers who can manage multiple events per weekend. That means once your date is gone, it’s gone.
Established photographers often open their 2027 diary 18–24 months in advance, and prime dates are usually the first to go. If you have your heart set on a specific photographer, enquire as soon as you’ve secured your venue.

Style & Personality Matter Just as Much as Skill
You’re not just hiring someone to take photos, you’re inviting them to spend one of the most important days of your life, right beside you.
Do you want someone calm and unobtrusive? Someone bubbly and directive or Someone artistic and editorial?
It's important to ask if you can look through full galleries (not just Instagram highlights) and ask yourself whether their style feels timeless to you. Trends change, but your wedding album shouldn’t feel dated in five years.
Personality fit is huge. You’ll spend more time with your photographer than almost any other supplier on the day. Feeling relaxed around them makes a massive difference in how natural your photos look. You have to think, if you wouldn't invite them as a guest, then they probably aren't the photographer for you.
Arrange a Video Call Before You Decide
Most photographers now offer video consultations so you can “e-meet” before committing. This is incredibly helpful, especially if you’re planning from afar. A video call allows you to see if you get on with the photographer and chat over your plans for the day. It also gives you a chance to ask questions and get clarity on anything you may not be sure of like packages and weather changes. It's important to trust your initial feeling after that call. If you leave feeling excited and comfortable, that’s a great sign.
Booking Early Can Save You Money
Something couples often overlook is that prices usually increase year on year, as with anything the cost of living is becoming more expensive and for small business to keep going they also have to increase their prices.
If you’re planning a 2027 wedding and a photographer opens their 2027 diary in 2025 or early 2026, you’ll typically lock in their current pricing. Waiting another year could mean paying more for the same service.
Many photographers review their prices annually to reflect experience, demand, and rising business costs. Booking earlier can secure both your date and a better rate.
If photography is one of your biggest priorities, don’t leave it to chance. The right photographer will shape how you remember your wedding day forever, and the earlier you book, the more choice, connection, and value you’ll have.
So if you think I am the right fit, please get in touch to book in an initial video call, I can't wait to hear about your plans!
